..and I’ll never stop learning that during life on this earth.
Wait, what?
While in Seattle, I’ve seen prayers answered in a way I’ve never seen before, my fears and stress redeemed into something for HIS glory and my good, growth in who I am in CHRIST and my faith in HIM, and a clearer view of exactly how big what HE did on the cross was.
The funny part?
My awareness of all this means nothing as to how long it’s been going on; HE has been the same and always will be the same. My view of all this is because of HIM too.
And?
It’s still not perfect. It never will be here. I’ll never know HIM perfectly till I’m home. Till then, I’m looking forward to being in awe of HIM in new ways each day, learning more about who HE is, getting to know my GOD in a personal, crazy-awesome FATHER-son relationship; all because the SON took on the penalty of not knowing HIM, I too am a son, a re-adopted son.
So?
My faith is being strengthened not by crazy outlandish theological doctrines I’ve never heard of thought up by dead guys, it’s always been about one thing I’ll never stop learning about: the cross. Namely, my SAVIOR’s death on one.
The Jews demand signs and the Greeks seek wisdom. Pilate wanted to make sense of the situation, not wanting to take part in declaring HIM as CHRIST or fool. Herod wanted a sign done by HIM, a magic show, proof of who HE was, if HE was really a king, through miracles. JESUS withheld giving them what they sought until HE hung nailed to that cross.
HE gave them the miracle, the sign. The power of GOD hung on display. Their stumbling block. How could they truly see without HIM?
HE gave them the answer, the truth. The wisdom of GOD hung on display. Their folly. How could they truly comprehend without HIM?
The Jews saw their awaited MESSIAH hung on a cross. How weak.
The Greeks saw this KING crucified. What nonsense.
Without GOD, without faith, without HOLY SPIRIT, we cannot get what the cross is. We need HIM for everything, even understanding what has given us life. Life comes with understanding, not after. JESUS saves people. We don’t. Our comprehension cannot save us. We need HIM to truly grasp HIM. For the word of the cross is folly to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of GOD.
This is what brings me awe. HIS power. HIS wisdom. I can’t wait to see more.
For the word of the cross is folly to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God. For it is written,
“I will destroy the wisdom of the wise,
and the discernment of the discerning I will thwart.”
Where is the one who is wise? Where is the scribe? Where is the debater of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of the world? For since, in the wisdom of God, the world did not know God through wisdom, it pleased God through the folly of what we preach to save those who believe. For Jews demand signs and Greeks seek wisdom, but we preach Christ crucified, a stumbling block to Jews and folly to Gentiles, but to those who are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God. For the foolishness of God is wiser than men, and the weakness of God is stronger than men.
